PCMA

Convening Leaders

Teaching the industry

The Professional Convention Management Association provides a world-class learning experience at its annual Convening Leaders conference, testing new innovations to inspire and facilitate the evolution of the events industry. PCMA turned to Freeman to take the conference to the next level to help immerse industry leaders in new ways to improve the audience experience.

Engagement in action

The general session ballroom, designed to seat 3,400 guests, featured a 140' wide by 32 ' tall blended projection screen that stretched the full length of the ballroom to deliver an immersive experience during the general session.

Later in the program, in less than 30 minutes, we worked with the Convention Centre to convert this into two smaller rooms to accommodate an additional 1,100 meeting professionals.

The Learning Lounge, designed to encourage exploration and discovery throughout the Vancouver Convention Centre, spread over two floors and provided guests a space to learn in a smaller setting, unwind with creative activities and network with their peers.

PCMA kept audience members engaged from start to finish with Sync by Freeman™ (formerly FXP | touch), allowing participants to use their own mobile devices as second screens. The second screen technology even engaged the audience members in the overflow room because they could still participate in the presentation.

Throughout the facility, scenic design and decor elements branded the space and provided directional support.

Measured engagement

The Convening Leaders event truly nurtures creativity among meeting professionals and industry leaders. Success at a PCMA event is not measured by attendance or prestigious guests — it is measured by participation and high-energy engagement.

Almost all attendees used Sync by Freeman™ (formerly FXP | touch) in a single session, staying engaged with a steady stream of comments in the live feed. Afterward, more than 85 percent rated the technology a very helpful tool.

In addition, over 1,400 additional online attendees engaged through the live stream, extending the conference content and conversation.
